INDICATION

Optifresh Eye Drop 10ML is an artificial tear preparation indicated for the relief of dry eye symptoms including burning, irritation, dryness, and foreign body sensation. It is used for temporary relief of discomfort caused by reduced tear production, excessive tear evaporation, environmental factors (wind, air conditioning, screen use), and contact lens wear. Optifresh provides lubrication and protection to the ocular surface, supplementing the natural tear film.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Polyvinyl alcohol is a synthetic polymer that acts as a viscosity-enhancing lubricant, forming a stable film over the corneal and conjunctival surface that mimics the mucin and aqueous layers of the natural tear film. Povidone further enhances the wetting and lubricating properties by stabilizing the tear film and prolonging the residence time of the solution on the eye surface. Together, these two demulcents provide comprehensive ocular surface protection and moisture retention.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

●     Instill 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye(s) as needed, typically 3 to 4 times daily

●     For severe dryness, drops may be used every 1 to 2 hours

●     Remove contact lenses before application and wait 15 minutes before reinserting

●     Blink gently after instillation to spread the solution evenly

●     Safe for long-term maintenance use in chronic dry eye

SIDE EFFECTS

Common:

●     Temporary blurred vision immediately after instillation

●     Mild stinging or discomfort upon application

Less common:

●     Allergic reaction in sensitive individuals

●     Eyelid crusting with very frequent use

NOT RECOMMENDED IN

●     Known hypersensitivity to polyvinyl alcohol, povidone, or any preservative

●     Do not use if the solution appears cloudy or contains particles

●     Active eye infection without concurrent antimicrobial treatment

DRUG INTERACTIONS
