INDICATION

Tioget 18mcg Cap is a long-acting anticholinergic bronchodilator indicated for the long-term, once-daily maintenance treatment of bronchospasm associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It reduces COPD exacerbations and improves exercise tolerance and quality of life.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Tiotropium is a long-acting, selective muscarinic receptor antagonist (LAMA) that competitively and reversibly antagonizes M1 and M3 muscarinic receptors on airway smooth muscle and mucous glands, with particularly prolonged M3 receptor binding. Blockade of M3 receptors on bronchial smooth muscle reduces acetylcholine-mediated bronchoconstriction, producing sustained bronchodilation. It also reduces airway secretions and mucus overproduction. The once-daily dosing is made possible by its very slow dissociation from M3 receptors, maintaining therapeutic airway receptor occupancy throughout 24 hours.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

•      Adults: contents of 1 capsule (18mcg) inhaled once daily using the HandiHaler device

•      Do not swallow the capsule; it is for inhalation use only via the provided inhaler device
