INDICATION

Maxpan 200mg Suspension is a higher-strength third-generation cephalosporin formulation indicated for moderate to severe bacterial infections requiring enhanced dosing. MECHANISM OF ACTION

This disruption weakens the structural framework of the cell wall, causing the bacterium to swell and eventually rupture due to osmotic pressure. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

·        Children above 12 years: dose based on severity, up to 400mg daily

·        Renal impairment (creatinine clearance 21 to 60ml/min): reduce dose to 75% of standard dosing

SIDE EFFECTS

Common:

Anticoagulant effects of warfarin may be potentiated, necessitating closer INR monitoring during concurrent therapy. Aluminum and magnesium-containing antacids reduce oral bioavailability and should be spaced at least 2 hours apart. Carbamazepine serum levels may rise during co-administration. No clinically significant interaction with oral contraceptives has been documented.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
