INDICATION

Lotricort-G Cream 15G is a triple-action topical preparation indicated for the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions complicated by both fungal and bacterial infection. It is used for infected eczema, infected dermatitis, tinea corporis with secondary bacterial infection, tinea cruris with inflammation, and other dermatoses where corticosteroid-responsive inflammation coexists with susceptible fungal and bacterial pathogens. The three active ingredients address inflammation, fungal infection, and bacterial infection simultaneously.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Betamethasone dipropionate is a potent synthetic corticosteroid that suppresses inflammation by inhibiting phospholipase A2 through lipocortin induction, reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes responsible for redness, swelling, and itching. Clotrimazole is an imidazole antifungal that inhibits lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase in the fungal ergosterol synthesis pathway, disrupting the fungal cell membrane and causing cell death. Gentamicin sulphate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that exerts bactericidal activity by irreversibly binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, causing misreading of the genetic code and lethal disruption of protein synthesis. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
