INDICATION

Lerace 250mg is indicated for the management of partial onset seizures, myoclonic seizures, and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures in adults and children. It is widely used as an adjunctive therapy in patients with epilepsy who have not responded adequately to first-line anticonvulsants. Levetiracetam plays a significant role in reducing seizure frequency and improving overall quality of life in epileptic patients. MECHANISM OF ACTION

Levetiracetam binds selectively to synaptic vesicle protein 2A (SV2A) located in the brain. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

•      Adults: 250mg twice daily, may be increased to a maximum of 1500mg twice daily based on clinical response.

•      Children (4–16 years): Dose is weight-based; typically 10mg/kg twice daily up to 30mg/kg twice daily.

•      Tablets should be swallowed whole with water, with or without food.

•      Dose adjustments are required in patients with renal impairment.

•      Do not abruptly discontinue; taper under medical supervision.
