INDICATION

Flexamine-D Tab is a joint health supplement used for the symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis, particularly knee and hip osteoarthritis. It reduces joint pain, improves mobility, and helps slow cartilage degradation. The combination of glucosamine sulphate and chondroitin sulphate sodium provides both structural cartilage support and anti-inflammatory benefits, making it suitable for patients with moderate to severe osteoarthritis who need long-term joint protection.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Glucosamine sulphate is a natural aminomonosaccharide and a key building block for glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and proteoglycans, the structural components of articular cartilage. It stimulates chondrocytes to produce collagen type II and proteoglycans, and has anti-inflammatory properties through inhibition of NF-kB signaling. Chondroitin sulphate sodium is a major component of the extracellular matrix of cartilage, providing resistance to compression. It inhibits degradative enzymes (matrix metalloproteinases and aggrecanases) that break down cartilage, reduces inflammatory cytokine production, and promotes water retention within the cartilage matrix, maintaining its elasticity and shock-absorbing properties. Together, these two agents provide complementary cartilage protection: glucosamine stimulates new cartilage formation while chondroitin prevents existing cartilage breakdown.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

•      Adults: 1 tablet once or twice daily with meals, or as directed by a physician

•      Therapeutic effects typically become apparent after 4 to 8 weeks of regular use

•      For maximum benefit, continue treatment for at least 3 to 6 months

•      Take with food to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort

•      Not a substitute for prescribed arthritis medications in severe disease

SIDE EFFECTS

Common:

Chondroitin has structural similarity to heparin and may have mild anticoagulant properties; use with caution alongside anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents. Tetracycline absorption may be slightly reduced; separate by 2 hours if needed.
