INDICATION

Preneu CR 82.5 mg is indicated for the management of neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy and post-herpetic neuralgia. It is also used in the treatment of fibromyalgia, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and as an adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures. The controlled-release formulation allows for once-daily dosing with sustained therapeutic plasma levels.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Preneu CR contains Pregabalin, an alpha-2-delta ligand that acts on voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system. By binding to the alpha-2-delta subunit of these channels, it reduces the influx of calcium into overexcited neurons, thereby decreasing the excessive release of neurotransmitters such as glutamate, norepinephrine, and substance P. This calms overactive nerve signals responsible for neuropathic pain, anxiety, and seizure activity, providing sustained relief through the controlled-release mechanism.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

•      Take one tablet once daily as prescribed by a physician.

•      May be taken with or without food, at the same time each day.

•      Do not stop the medication abruptly; taper the dose gradually under medical supervision.

SIDE EFFECTS

•      Dizziness, drowsiness, or fatigue  especially at treatment initiation.

•      Blurred vision or difficulty concentrating.

•      Weight gain and peripheral oedema.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Additive CNS depression with alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, or other CNS depressants. May enhance the effects of antidiabetic agents (risk of hypoglycaemia). Concomitant use with thiazolidinediones may increase the risk of oedema and weight gain.
