INDICATION
Polytears Eye Drop 15ML is an artificial tear solution indicated for the temporary relief of dry eye symptoms including burning, irritation, dryness, and discomfort. It is used to lubricate and protect the ocular surface in patients with insufficient tear production, excessive tear evaporation, or symptoms caused by environmental factors such as wind, air conditioning, prolonged screen use, and contact lens wear.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Polyethylene glycol and propylene glycol are demulcent agents that form a hydrophilic, lubricating film over the corneal and conjunctival surface when instilled in the eye. This film mimics the protective function of the natural tear film, retaining moisture, reducing friction during blinking, and shielding the ocular surface from environmental irritants. The combination provides both immediate comfort and sustained lubrication.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
● Instill 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye(s) as needed, typically 3 to 4 times daily
● For severe dryness, drops may be used every 1 to 2 hours
● Remove contact lenses before application and wait 15 minutes before reinserting
● Blink gently after instillation to spread the solution evenly
● Safe for long-term maintenance use in chronic dry eye
SIDE EFFECTS
Common:
● Temporary blurred vision immediately after instillation
● Mild stinging upon application
Less common:
● Allergic reaction in sensitive individuals
● Eye redness or increased discomfort (rare)
NOT RECOMMENDED IN
● Known hypersensitivity to polyethylene glycol, propylene glycol, or any preservative
● Do not use if the solution appears cloudy or discolored
● Active eye infection without concurrent antimicrobial treatment
DRUG INTERACTIONS
No significant drug interactions. If using other eye medications, instill them first and wait 5 to 10 minutes before applying Polytears.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Protect from light. Do not freeze. Discard 4 weeks after opening. Keep out of reach of children.
