INDICATION

Fusiderm-H Cream is indicated for the treatment of eczema and dermatitis where secondary bacterial infection by fusidic acid-susceptible organisms is present or likely, including atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, and discoid eczema complicated by bacterial infection.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Fusidic acid inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by blocking elongation factor G, primarily targeting Staphylococcus aureus including many resistant strains. Hydrocortisone acetate reduces inflammation by suppressing prostaglandin and leukotriene synthesis via glucocorticoid receptor activation. The combination provides simultaneous antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action, treating both the infection and the underlying skin inflammation.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

·        Apply a thin layer to the affected skin area two to three times daily

·        Rub gently until absorbed

·        Treatment duration is typically 7 to 14 days

·        Do not exceed 2 weeks without medical review

·        For external use only

SIDE EFFECTS

Common:

·        Mild stinging or burning at application site

·        Mild irritation or redness

Less common:

·        Skin thinning or atrophy with prolonged corticosteroid use

·        Allergic contact dermatitis
