INDICATION

Digas Tab Khatti Methi is a flavored antacid and anti-flatulent with the same active ingredients as Digas Classic, but with an added tangy and sweet flavor making it more palatable. It provides relief from heartburn, acidity, sour stomach, gas, and bloating. Suitable for regular acidity management in patients who prefer a chewable flavored tablet.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide neutralize gastric acid by reacting with hydrochloric acid to form aluminum chloride, magnesium chloride, and water. Simethicone reduces gas bubble surface tension, aiding expulsion and relieving bloating. The flavoring agents have no pharmacological activity.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

•      1 to 2 tablets as needed between meals and at bedtime

•      Chew tablets well before swallowing

•      Maximum 8 tablets per day unless directed otherwise by a physician

SIDE EFFECTS

Common:

•      Constipation (aluminum component)

•      Mild diarrhea (magnesium component)

•      Nausea

Less common:

•      Hypermagnesemia in renal patients

•      Aluminum accumulation with prolonged high-dose use

NOT RECOMMENDED IN

•      Severe renal impairment

•      Known allergy to any ingredient including flavoring agents

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Same as Digas Classic. Separate from fluoroquinolones, tetracyclines, and iron by at least 2 hours.
