INDICATION

Aminovel 600 Inj is a combined amino acid, vitamin, and electrolyte infusion for parenteral nutrition, indicated as a nitrogen and energy source in patients who cannot meet their nutritional requirements through the enteral route. It is used in catabolic states including major surgery, severe trauma, burns, and sepsis, as well as in patients with gastrointestinal disorders preventing adequate oral intake, pre- and post-operative nutritional support, and conditions requiring short-term parenteral nutrition where central or peripheral venous amino acid supplementation is clinically necessary.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Each 1000ml of Aminovel 600 provides 5% free amino acids (50g total), comprising both essential and non-essential amino acids including L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine, L-Lysine, L-Methionine, L-Phenylalanine, L-Threonine, L-Tryptophan, L-Histidine, L-Arginine, L-Alanine, L-Proline, Glycine, and others, with an essential to non-essential amino acid ratio (E/N) of 0.7 and total nitrogen content of 8.0g/L. D-Sorbitol (100g/L) provides an additional non-glucose energy substrate supporting protein synthesis without requiring insulin. The formulation contains vitamins (ascorbic acid 400mg, inositol 500mg, nicotinamide 60mg, pyridoxine HCl 40mg, riboflavin sodium phosphate 2.5mg) that support amino acid metabolism as cofactors, and electrolytes (sodium 35mEq, potassium 25mEq, magnesium 5mEq, acetate 35mEq, malate 22mEq, chloride 38mEq) to maintain fluid and electrolyte balance during infusion. Osmolarity is 1320mOsm/L requiring central venous administration.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

•      Dosage individualized based on patient weight, metabolic state, and nitrogen balance requirements

•      Typical adult dose: 1 to 2 bottles (1000 to 2000ml) per day by slow intravenous infusion

SIDE EFFECTS

Common:

•      Inborn errors of amino acid metabolism

•      Significant fluid overload, severe electrolyte imbalance, or metabolic acidosis; correct all metabolic abnormalities before initiating parenteral nutrition

DRUG INTERACTIONS
